What equipment to buy to move to extract brewing?

Hi,

My husband starting brewing about two years ago. He has done about 6 batches, all using the kits and he wants to try doing an extract brew. He has the usual starter kit equipment, so I wanted to buy him the equipment and ingredients he would need for an extract brew for Christmas. I had a look through previous posts and went onto thehomebrewingcompany.ie and homebrew.ie but I was a bit overwhelmed by all the complicated equipment!

It would be a huge help if any of you could let me know what are the essentials for the move from starter kit to extract kit brewing.
