How Soon Can I Tax My Car?

    Hi guys

I recently bought a second hand car. The transaction has gone through on motortax.ie but I haven't received the owner's certificate yet.

I want to tax the car before all the hassle of the Christmas checkpoints and I've tried to retrieve the pin in order to tax it online, but the pin hasn't arrived in my inbox yet. That was 2 hours ago.

So assuming I can't tax it online, what's the soonest I can tax it in person at the tax office? Do I need to wait for the Owner's Cert?

    Thanks.

Try last six digits of chassis num as Pin.

If its showing as a change of owner on Motortax.ie, you can tax it now. You no longer need your Log Book, Insurance Cert or NCT cert to tax a vehicle. Just bring in the rf100 form and you will be able to tax it.

Thanks folks. Still no sign of the email. I checked all inboxes. The owner's cert arrived this morning so I'll pop in to the tax office and do it there I think. Thanks all for your help.
