I'm sending 'Happy Holiday' cards this year as I believe that religious groups such as the Catholic Church have taken over Christmas far too much and we need to have a secular Xmas time and our government needs to see to it that that happens and the sooner the better.

In short, we need more santas and less mangers.

For heaven sake, sure Jesus was born on Christmas day (would have been nice to call him Christopher but whatever) and so I'm not so sure if even he would like everyone associating him with the whole season the way so many people seem intent on us doing.

We should follow the examples of the three *wise* men who didn't prattle on about God and Christ and religion. They just came along to where Mary had given birth, gave baby Jesus his Christmas presents and went on about their merry way.

It's bad enough they ruin every Easter with all the talk about crucifixions, tombs and resurrections, when people are trying to enjoy their fecking chocolate. Away on with yerselves now ye Holy Joes, and quit hijacking our holidays with all this inappropriate talk of deities.

I sent some - writing them put me in a bit of a Christmas mood. Made a special effort with people that are abroad and won't be getting back to Ireland this Christmas.

For the rest of the year the post is just bills, bills and bills - I'm very touched when someone has taken the time to write and send me a card.
