    Guys,

Just wondering would anyone here ever use a horse to collect logs, plough etc etc. Reared with horses all my life, hunters etc etc and would love to use a horse for all the little jobs wed usually use a tractor for.

Would love to see them used for extracting timber, but I wouldn't be one for spending the time needed for looking after horses. Loads of info about timber extraction with horses online good example http://www.sylvanenvironmental.com/traction.htm .

I'm a student at the moment so that and lack of land access ( I only have the money/time/space for one horse) has me limited to a small bit of riding for at least two more years

Much the same, trying to buy some land beside home at the moment but we have two horses. My own rides and drives (a nice heavy cob) and is very much the slow and steady type so I'm going to be using her at the start. Going to build a 4 wheel cart/dray that i could move our turf and collect hay etc with.
