Error with Partition.

    I have a 1TB external hard but becuase it was really slow to load in the caddy i put it into my pc and it works grand but i want to partition it so i can back up my SSD witch im using as my os drive and my other drive that has all the programs on it but when ever i try to partition my external drive it says,

    The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

    What does this mean and how do i fix it ? and also what would be the best free image backup software ?


    Resolved figured it out Disk Defregmenter was disabled.
