Fire in a new sparkplug for a start. A quick way to test if its carb/fueling problems or electronics/spark is to spray in some easystart (or just normal deodorant works fine!) into the inlet manifold, the engine will fire for afew seconds if you are still getting a strong spark. In this case, go drain the petrol (could be gone "off" from lying up for afew months), and clean out the carb (get a mechanic to do this if you dont know what your doing), dirt can clog the jets in the carb.
