Over the next few months I'll be re-assembling my E30, I have nearly all the shadow line trim removed from the car and can't decide what to with it. I think I can either re-paint all of it or use something like g-technic trim restore. The trim restore worked really well on a set of grills. Painting is more hassle but might look better?

I would definitely use C4 trim restorer. I've used it on 3 cars now. The first two it lasted almost 3 years and the third I did recently. I think it is better than painting because it keeps the original look.

Yep, trim restorer is the way to go in my opinion too :)

Can't beat C4 for plastic trim, but shadowline stuff is all painted chrome/metal as far as I know. It won't work. Sand it back and re-spray is your only job.

It's either painted or powdercoated, I'm really sure to be honest.

I'm reluctant to go painting it all, there's a lot of it on the touring :P

I think Conzy resprayed his and it turned out very well. There would be a fair bit of work on a touring though.... get a few friends to give you a hand :P

If it were that easy the touring would have been finished 2yrs ago :p

I'm in no rush, it's prog going to be one of the last things on the list.

It would help if you weren't in the arsehole of nowhere :pac:

In fairness, it's coming along nicely :) I'd say you're delighted to see some proper progress with it painted now

On the one hand it really appreciate a helping hand but then on the other hand I'd be paranoid that something would be done wrong or get damaged etc :o I don't think I trust most of my mates enough :o (their not car enthusiasts either).

I can;t wait it's been a very long time happening! Was meant to have it back last week but he's been busy  Hopefulyl tomorrow or wed eve!

I know what you mean :D I think most people that actually like their cars has that feeling :) Particularly if they're not into cars.

Surely a few lads from bmw-driver or E30 owners would give you a hand though?

Get pics up when you get it back ;)

I'll have pics for sure! There's no one local to me. I've one mate but I can't see him helping much, until I get the shell in his shed :D

Ah thats a shame... we'll have to organise a meet up there :D

If you want some pics of it when it's finished... let me know ;)

Might have a mini meet up here before I leave the country.

I'll let you know about pics, I'll be trying myself thats for sure. Seems like a hard enough colour to photograph as well.

If its off the car I'd definitely paint it - the trim restorer does a great job, but I don't think its a match for freshly painted trim.
