Ladies, how does becoming a personal assistant in the Maldives sound? And eh... how does probably having to have sex with the CEO sound?

    http://www.catererglobal.com/job/10819417/personal-assistant-to-ceo-maldives/

Our client, a 5* Hotel Resorts company in the Maldives is looking for a

    Personal Assistant to CEO

She will have to direct and organize all the activities of the office of the CEO.
Our successful suitable candidate has the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, to prioritize work, exercise initiative and judgment, make decisions within the scope of assigned authority, communicate clearly, respect confidentiality.

She has previous experiences as Personal Assistant / Executive Assistant or Executive Secretary, is a proficient Microsoft Office user; accounting background is and advantage. She has a good understanding of Hotel and/or Tourism business

She is flexible, motivate, good team player - she is able to live in a remote location.

    single position only.

We will only contact the shortlisted candidate. Thank you for your understanding.

    How flexible are we talking?

I know off a few women who should be good for it.

What in the name of God are you talking about?

I can understand that assuming the PA will be a female is a bit sexist alright. But where's the 'possibly having to have sex' part of this advertisement?

"Single position only" means that there is only one vacancy available. It does NOT mean "please be single because I want to sleep with you".

Single position only could also imply that as location is remote it would not be suitable for someone with a family. Or that accommodation is provided in which case it would only be for unmarried candidates.

Assuming that such roles are only suitable for a woman is indeed sexist and old fashioned, but my reading of the advert is much more innocuous that yours. You seem to think the advert is some sort of coded request for the lead role in a bad soft porn movie where a Dolly bird will tend to her male bosses every need, possibly whilst wearing prim glasses and a bun in her hair which she will then unpin in slow motion to reveal luscious locks and a sultry sex kitten will be unleashed!!!

Respecting confidentiality is a standard requirement of many jobs.

Also is it not sexist of you to assume the CEO is a man?

It could very well be a lesbian temptress! ;)

I'm with Phantasos on this one.. no idea what the OP is on about!

"Single position only" = one vacancy

"respect confidentiality" = you will likely be dealing with CEO eyes-only emails, contracts and documentation which is not to blabbed about. Standard expectation IMO

"She, She, She..." = ok you could claim it's sexist I suppose or you can recognize reality that most such roles are filled by women. It's also a different country where the same level of PC nonsense/looking to be offended may not apply.

Good catch. Could be a female CEO who wants a female assistant.

The whole idea that there should not be discrimination in the recruiting process is total nonsense, since in order to achieve the objective, one must discriminate ! The only thing is that in Ireland and the UK you waste peoples time and money having them come into do interviews for jobs you have no intention of offering them, just to ensure that you will not get sued…

A lot of the time the job has already gone in house but they have to advertise/interview anyway.

You've also got the problem with hr wanting to look busy and keep their job so they fill up their day with interviews.

Everybody has a love/hate relationship with hr.
