Intel’s replacement for Ivy Bridge-E and Sandy Bridge-E will have eight cores and a 3GHz clock speed. Intel is expected to launch Haswell-E sometime in the third quarter of 2014. Haswell-E will feature 8 cores clocked at 3GHz and will be based on the 22nm process node as Ivy Bridge-E. At launch Intel is understood to be intending to ship two versions of the chip: an “X” ,or extreme edition of the chip, as well as a “K” edition.

As VR Zone reports; Haswell-E will use Intel’s X99 chipset, which as VR-Zone previously reported, is not compatible with the earlier X79 series. Intel’s X99 will offer native support for USB 3.0, as well as 10 Ports of SATA 6Gb / s. It’s also interesting to note that Intel appears to be producing this specific engineering sample is produced using its foundries based in the United States, rather than the usual production geo-locations which means it’s likely a very early engineering sample. Intel Haswell E HEDT Features 635x435 Heres a first look at a Haswell E engineering sample It will also support DDR4 memory, which should offer the most noticeable boost when compared to its predecessors. More details should be available in early 2014 before a likely launch at Intel’s developer forum later in the fall.

DDR4 ram isn't going to provide a noticeable boost. It has some power consumption improvements but thats about it.

dont know much about ddr4 TBH. but i found this on crucials website.

    Next-gen memory. Next-gen performance.
    Scheduled for early 2014
Designed to enable the next generation of enterprise and consumer products, Crucial® DDR4 memory technology represents the future of computing. Moving beyond the outgrown limitations of DDR3 module architecture, Crucial DDR4 memory is engineered to pack more performance into your system and has the capability to double the available density per module. Crucial DDR4 modules will use up to 20% less voltage than previous technology, and will enable mainstream data rates that are at least twice as fast as DDR3 memory. With DDR4 memory in your system, get ready to process data twice as fast, load applications faster, experience quick snap responsiveness and increased ability to multitask. If you thought the tablets, ultrabooks, and desktops of today already seem fast — get ready to be blown away. The technology that enables electronics is about to get better and faster than ever before.

I will be waiting to upgrade to this, unless AMD can sway me. It will probably be too expensive until sometime in 2015. I imagine I'll get a good few years out of the next gen, so it should be worth the wait.

I love how people are more interested in ddr4 ram, and not in 8 core CPU :p. Sane here though!

So yeah, ddr4 ram, it will have 2.1ghz, but we know that some ddr3 can push that out already and we do know already that performance is not even remotely impressive. So de we actually need ddr4 then?

hahaha nah im more interested in the cpu TBH. it will be my next upgrade :D other than the 780ti that i will be getting soon :)

You never really need these these new standards when they are released(see pcie3 etc), it took a good while to get DDR3 up to those speeds and it wasn't much better than DDR2 at launch. Fast ram has its benefits but gaming isn't really one of them.

    It's well for some... ;)

Finally 8 cores! :) What socket will it be?

its 2011-3 socket it wont fit current 2011 motherboards . newer X99 motherboards will be released for it
