    Hi,

I have applied for to supervise exams (I know that it is very difficult to get!)Just wondering what the rate of pay is for exam supervision, after tax and deductions etc, what would the average take home pay be?

It all depends on how far you have to travel, how long are your days (Jc or lc), how long your centre stays open and how much you have earned already thag year! I don't give any tax credits to SEC as I have full 22 hours and CID so the very rough guide I use is deductions are 62%! This year I got a Jc centre which was open for 7 days (I think) plus 1 day to collect scripts, it was around 10km away. Take home pay was around €700-€800. I think it is worth it. If your centre is further away from your house you will make a lot more as mileage is not taxed. In the past I marked practicals far away and came out with over €600 in just mileage but I think those days are over to be honest.

I think the rate is about €100 per day if you do a full day (morning and afternoon exam) and about €56 if you do a half day, one exam only. It depends then how many days you get, LC centres tend to be open longer than JC centres. As Millem said, it depends also on how far away from the school you live.

The rates are per day only and not per hour so if you're supervising LC History you could be in until 5.20 that evening if some are writing until the end. If you are in JC centre all day, most of their exams finish 4.00-4.30

Rate last year for LC exam superintendent was €112 per day, regardless if you only had a morning or evening exam. Same pay as full day.

€112 is the daily rate but you also get another bit to cover you for your food/drink I suppose that is based on how long you are away from your house.i can't remember the name of it. I still managed to get the long day allowance even though I was JC for all but 2 days I think, as there was dreadful roadworks en route so had to leave every day at 7.30 :)
