Hi all, earlier this year I purchased an old unimog 404 unfinished project from a fella in Donegal as the base for an offroader project. there are no reg plates or tax book with it, presumably they were lost over the years, as the thing was taken apart for painting years ago and it has also changed hands a few times since then, i have a tax disc from '89 that was on the cab, but there are no detais on this cos it was filled out in biro and its faded off, there is however a serial number on the disc. does anyone know if it's possible to trace the reg number using this number and the chassis number?

well you see without a reg plate it's not much use as anything other than as a rather ugly garden ornament, I'm a member of a 4x4 club and our venues are 30 odd miles away and the mog is too big to trailer safely behind my car unlike my Suzuki vitara, and I 'd like to be able to take it on vintage runs, military shows and the like as well, good point about the gardai, I have a cousin who's a guard i'll give him a try.

if it was taxed after 1990 it should be on the system bcos they changed from paper to computer around that time, ur couisn should be abe to find if its there and if not you will have to try and get the information from Shannon but that could be hard.

Sound, i'll try that route, Shannon is hard work alright. have dealt with them before for bikes they're great for giving the run around.

Go to Merc dealer and give him chassis no., he might be able to give you specs of it.
Otherwise get on to Mercedes classic in UK /Germany and see where/when factory exported it
