The wind gusts were so bad today in the tesco parking lot, I opened the door a but and tried to grab my daughter out & the wind caught the door so hard it bend it straight back and seemed to have bent the top hinge. It closes but is obliviously bent and you can hear the wind through it. I will try to adjust it or possibly get a new hinge but does standard insurance cover claim that are weather related? Has anyone gone through something like this?
    TIA

Read the conditions of your insurance policy. If it says nothing try ringing them and ask.

Trying to find my papers now
Also if I does have to go through insurance and is covered under 'act of god' or weather induced damage, and not my fault, technically (or legally) aren't they not allowed to raise my rates?
Thinking about my previous insurance in North America

What you describe is an Accidental Damage and covered under a comprehensive policy. Here in Ireland, we operate a no claim bonus system, not a no blame system. Unless you have bonus protection, it will affect your premium

Even with no claims protection it'll more than likely affect a premium.

@OP. What's the excess is on the policy?
    What car is it?

That's called carelessness, not act of god.

Yes, was afraid if that, we have a 5 year no claims bonus I believe, excess is 500. It's a jeep

With an excess of €500 it's not worth your while claiming. Repair more than likely will be less than the excess or not much over. Even if you have protected NCD you are only allowed one or two before loosing it, better off saving the claim for something which will cost a lot more to repair.

Personally I would have to think hard to make any claim below €1k.
