Really not good with alcohol. For a otc medicine, that **** is fair strong

There's Diphenhydramine in it. It's potent enough on its own even

Going by the part that says avoid alcoholic drink makes me think you should avoid alcoholic drink

Why would you even be contemplating leaving the house if you're taking a flu medicine?

Side effects include moon shaped face, excess hair growth, bloody (bar) stools and feelings of invincibility.

    Don't drive any forklifts either.

Diphenhydramine is a type of medicine called a sedating antihistamine. It enters the brain in sufficient quantities to cause drowsiness, and this sedative effect may also help suppress a cough

If it contains pseudoephedrine, some people have a reaction to that, a bit like what you describe.

Just stick to the Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozy Snooze and melt into the bed for the evening.

Going out tonight probably wouldn't be the best idea you've ever had. Could you not give tonight a miss, recover from your flu and then enjoy the Christmas.

I don't think one would need to be too clever to give advice on this

apologies - its benylin day and night actually - more of less the same - smaller doses of the diphen and pseudo in the 4 flu product and in the day and night one, you only have the diphen (sed antihistamine) in the night tablet which i have not taken tonight..

and actually just read the back of the box - the avoid alcohol warning is only when you have taken the night tablet - makes sense..

And also, i don't have a flu per se. was just a bit off yday…

so off out i go.. its starting to wear off now anyway and i won't take anymore.. and i'm also not ill.. so yeah!

but thanks for all the imput

    Who on Earth are you?

And it's Mr. D. to you.

I didn't know medical advice was permitted on boards all of a sudden.

Benylin contains significant amounts of cryptofortilium which may induce feelings of ennui. When combined with alcohol, some people have reported an uncontrollable urge to take up dressage.

Why would you even be contemplating leaving the house if you're taking a flu medicine?

To spread it to everyone he meets and ruin their Christmas.

It's not exactly advice to urge caution and read the leaflet that comes with the pills, and say no, don't take all the drugs and slip into a coma and die.

I understand that but there's a fine grey area between the two - hardly discernible. Obviously these matters are of concern to the mods rather than myself and if they've kept the thread alive then it mustn't have been deemed inappropriate.

On a national level, I think more effort should go into a campaign raising more awareness of the risk between all drugs (including OTC/Herbal) and alcohol. I've seen too many people over the years under the assumption it's somehow reasonable to take the two in conjunction and this sh1tty attitude needs to be tackled head on.

all was fine folks.. no coma or neil prendeville like shanagans..
but i would avoid alcohol in future when taking such pills.. or any actually..

still, strange that it had such a strong effect on me even though i had not had the diphen h,, must speak to my pharmacist about it

I thought it was common sense that you don't mix pills and alcohol.

read my specifics - and no adverse side effects were had!

I find it mad that someone would ask for medical advice from strangers on the Internet, even more mad when those strangers are After Hours posters.
