We have been advised that best way to heat our house and hot water is the dimplex air to heat system..never heard of it before and trying to figure out the best and most energy efficient system for our house. Its an old house over 3 floors that needs complete refurbishment..we had planned to go to solar panel route but were advised this was a better system...any thoughts? thanks

Don't you mean air to water system?
Are you going to be using rads?
What were you hoping to get out of the solar panels before you were advised to use the Dimplex system?

OP one of the best way of heating your house is to reduce the heat lost from the house in the first place!
I would advise have a full heat loss survey done first and not think about a heating system until this is done. As you will be renovating/refurbishing, now is the time to get this right. Remember, also, as you are dealing with a very old property, not all "modern" energy improvements will be appropriate.

Thank you. Yes, we have had a full insulation survey..yes its heat to water..solar panels was to heat hot water now we have been advised to go solely with the dimplex air to water system..looks good on paper and jsut wondering if anyone has experience with this method for both hot water and heating UFH and rads.
    Many thanks

Do not use a heat pump to heat ufh and rads especially an air to water heat pump. Disaster waiting to happen

Rads require too high a temp, have no thermal mass and are generally incompatible with attaining good performance from a heat pump.

Assuming you've done all you can with insulation I'd probably look at good wood pellet burner like ETA or stove/oil boiler combo, or you could look at a heatpump on the ufh with a stove to feed the upstairs rads when necessary.

I have a Ber A rated house with a Dimplex Air to water system.

Solar panels feeding the large storage tank in conjuction with the air to heat pump.

The house is 2500 sq feet

There is under floor heating up stairs and down stairs.

What should the running costs of this system be.

You prob have a10- 12kw Dimplex unit using about3.5kw , your prob looking at €700-€900 per year with a Dimplex
