Upvc window fitted badly

I just got a new upvc window fitted. The bottom of the window is resting on 3 pieces of wood and there is about 3cm of silicone foam filler between it and the wall - however on the outside wall the bottom of the frame is not flush with the sill - about 2cm higher - and the White silicone foam is visible ( about 2 cm ) - that does not seem right to me ? I'm going to bring it up with fitter but want to be sure that I'm correct in feeling that the window frame is too small. Any advice?

    You could be right.

It shouldn't matter if its brick, block, plaster or even timber frame the window should sit on the cill, no blocks of wood, metal or foam.
So I would say its to small, there are filler pieces that clip on to allow for problems but if the window is measured right in the first place there should be no need for them

    Yes.

Som companies who fit from the outside make the windows smaller so as to "jiggle" them in from the outside without cutting the reveal and re-plastering and then use filler to make up the slight under measurement.

If fitting from the inside they can cut away the plaster so as to fit them in flush behind the reveal, tighter and no filler making up the under measurements.

(Some companies who fit from the outside make the windows smaller so as to "jiggle" them in from the outside without cutting the reveal and re-plastering and then use filler to make up the slight under measurement.)

Filler to make up under measurement ??????? really bad practice, you do know all filler breaks down with time so would need to be topped up over the years to avoid leaks, damp etc I think most companys say 20 years that means 5 to 8.
So if you haven't paid this company don't till the issue is sorted and if that means a new window so be it, I really don't know how anyone could settle for filler to make up the sizing
