Omg, the a330 will be fine with a winglets change but the USair is damaged on the leading edge. Did this happen coming on to stand? The crew are in the sh!t over this.

It's not as simple as replacing the winglet. There will be a lot of down time and checks to be carried out before it returns to service

    It's not an a330, it's a 737 as the above post says

The marshaller will take a lot of heat over this one I would imagine (if there was one)

So did this happen on pushback? Unusual that it got so close to the other aircraft. For parking in Amsterdam they use automatic guidance instead of Marshallers, however on pushback the only one giving guidance is the headset controller and the tug driver

I wonder was 737/320/321 marked on the ground where the 757 is parked?

Widebodies usually take two gates and narrowbodies take one, most gates have hammerheads painted for all types.

I cant believe the marshaller didnt cop it before the aircraft even came in that the space was too small.

    Kona,

It was already mentioned above that Amsterdam uses the automatic system!

Authorities are investigating a collision between two planes at Schiphol airport this morning. The accident happened when a U.S. Airways Boeing 757 pulling into a gate clipped the wing of a stationary KLM airplane.

Nobody was injured in the incident. Early reports suggest the U.S. Airways pilot followed an incorrect line when approaching the gate in Amsterdam, possibly following a path to gate D51A instead of D51B.

I know, whoever decided to put those aircraft there must have been blind.
