Stamullen Broadband Speeds

I've been with Vodafone for a couple of years now. Can't really complain about the service as it's been mostly rock solid - constantly 5-6Mbps download and the annoyingly consistent 0.3Mbps upload - but lately I have been seeing the odd drop to less than 2Mbps download and it's prompted me to look at what I'm paying and what service I'm getting.

I currently have a home phone and broadband package at the mo.

Does anyone else have any experience of other providers in the area? I believe UPC are good but not sure what the speeds are like where I am. I'm in Forgehill.

    Any info would be appreciated!!!!

go to Uswitch and you will be able to see everything you can get in your area.

im with UPC and the speeds are great. ive got 120Mb download and 10Mb upload you can get better but who really needs it.

the only issue i have with UPC is i download Debian OS from time to time and the best/fastest way is via a torrent but UPC sometimes kills the connection because of torrent traffic,it is a small annoyance as i prob use it one or twice a month but the only issue I've ever had (just want to give a valid appraisal of the service)

its 80 a month with phone/broadband/HD TV Plus box with every channel but sports movies channels.

Just to follow up on the above....

I continued my inquiries and was told by UPC that they could connect me to the fibre network and give me 30Mbps download speeds. Vodafone (my existing provider) told me that was impossible and that my address was not connected to any fibre networks.

Anyway, UPC installed fibre for me today and I am now getting up to 31Mbps over wifi, although average is around 22-26Mbps and also averaging a consistent 3Mbps upload.

Vodafone have been around 5.5 Mbps download and 0.31 upload. But over the pas few months it has been quite bad in the evenings. My last speedtest with Vodafone last night gave me 1.7Mbps download and the standard 0.31 upload.

So needless to say I am a happy bunny!

So if anyone else is in Forgehill or surrounds in Stamullen, UPC definitely have fibre to us now. My phone and internet package with UPC costs exactly the same as my Vodafone package so it seems like a no brainer really!!
