    Hi,

My older brother just inherited an iPhone 4 from his wife where it was working fine. After all the setting up, it started ok. iOS 7.0.4.

Then it stopped making or receiving calls. But it sends and receives texts fine.

I have reset it, hard restarted it, updated the network settings, pulled the SIM, setup as new iPhone ... yada yada yada.... but after the fix, it makes one call ... and then back to not making or receiving calls BUT texts in and out work fine. Vodafone. €26 credit.

I have done a good bit of googling but there are so many variations on the issue it's hard to find the solution.

Has anyone come across this particular odd issue ? Any ideas ?

Has she owned the phone since new? It couldn't have been reported stolen/missing etc? I vaguely remember someone posting something similar on here and the end result was they had their sim card replaced. I'd also call Vodafone in case they have any restrictions on his account, unlikely as it may be.

Also have you activated the sim? I know that Three require you to do that online, perhaps it's the same with Vodafone.

Also, and this could be nonsense, are you sure texts are sending fine or are iMessages working because you're on wifi?

That was my post of a friend of mine who found a phone that they had earlier reported stolen earlier.

No this is another situation .. I seem to to be the one they all come to for help
