    Dara brings back The Panel|chortle.co.uk

The RTE show was cancelled in 2011 after five years, but some of the regulars ... will be reunited for the one-off show on February 25 in Dublin’s Vicar Street venue.

Why do you reckon they're doing it? They are unlikely to make much money from a one-off show. And, it doesn't seem like there's any intention of bringing it back to TV.

It's made by Dara's own production company so it's an easy cheque for him. Plus it keeps him in the Irish picture to sell tickets for a tour etc I'm sure.

I wonder who will make up the panel. I'd say Colin Murphy and Neil Delamere could do with Irish TV exposure, but Maxwell and Ed Byrne might be a bit beyond it at this stage, doing well enough in England.

I wonder will RTE or BBC's cameras be at it.

    No, it's not being filmed.

The Panel isn't coming back. It's just Dara and his mates having a bit of a reunion.

    No harm in that.

Shame that it's not being recorded. The Panel, before Dara left, was one of the best shows RTE ever made!

Any good shows they do manage to make are usually by accident and are promptly either fcuked up or cancelled within three or four years.
Who thought David Mac Williams would be in anyway suitable for The Panel?

Supposedly, the new show "Next Weeks News" which has been commissioned for RTÉ Two next year (and a pilot version, "Next Years News" which will be shown over the Christmas) is a reworked version of the Panel in all but name. Neil Delemere will be involved in it.

Probably feature the dregs who never made it in England (Delamere,Murphy,Spain,Whelan) or had no business being on a comedy show in the first place (Farrell,Seoige, that teacher Tubridy is shagging etc).
