    The 'blind spot' mirror has a section on the outside edge which is more convex than the rest of the mirror. You can see the vertical line on the glass in the photo where the difference is. It's supposed to enable you to see more of your blind spot by distorting the image you get slightly. It'd be like looking through a fish-eye lens on a camera.

    Is the blind spot mirror better then the standard mirror

    Do you need a blind spot mirror for twice the price? If so get that.
    I'd go with standard mirror but that's me.

    It is just the garage is replaceing the standard mirror with a blind spot one

    I use little rectangular ones for a fiver the pair. The job, and a major safety aid. They self-stick and stay stuck, even after many a powerwash. Herself's Xsara has a little convex strip on the outer part of the glass as standard, though.
