This forum has encountered a number of problems recently. Currently there are 2 major issues it is facing:

    1. Re-reg trolls; and
    2. Posters speculating about 1. above and commenting on modding matters in-thread

In terms of 1. it's for the mods to discuss with the Admins whether a poster is a re-reg. Report your suspicions, and leave it to the mod team to take whatever action they consider appropriate. If no action is apparant, this may be because the Admins have decided there is no link. Do not continue to report posters in that situation unless new information about a possible link comes to your attention

With regards to 2., it is a site-wide rule that posters must not comment about modding matters in-thread (except in the Help Desk or possibly Feedback forums). If you choose to ignore this rule you can expect a card and/or ban. Report your suspicions then leave it to the mods to deal with as appropriate

If you think a poster is trolling (re-reg or otherwise), report the post. If you have a problem with a poster then try to ignore them (put them on your ignore list if you wish, but do not state in-thread you have done so - that's backseat modding). Do not comment on other posters in-thread.

Any questions, PM me or one of the local mods

Just a bit of follow up on one particular issue concerning re-regs. The site development team can ban IP addresses, and indeed have done so for one former problem poster in this forum. However that is of no use where someone has an IP address that changes regularly, or where common IP addresses are being used (which happens a lot of the time). It's also hassle for the Development Team who have plenty of other priorities

Only Admins can decide if someone is a re-reg. Mods and CMods can report their suspicions, but if the Admins cannot verify a link we cannot ban on a hunch. Similarly none of the regular posters here (unless they are Admins) have any information that allows them to confirm whether anyone is a re-reg. Posters will therefore get the benefit of any doubt on this, on the basis that they may actually be genuine. You must treat all posters as if they are genuine. If they are a re-reg troll then their posting will eventually find them out and the mods can take action based on their actual posting rather than the hunches of posters who really have no evidence one way or other.
