I think Christmas is going to be very hard for a lot of folks this year - with a lot of pressure involved financially. Me included. Am going to cut back a lot, but the basics are covered. it's great this mild weather is keeping heating costs down - hateful to have stocked up on oil/gas before now though. Any comments?

Will it be hard for me? Well you better ask the missus, or are you talking about the icing on the christmas cake perhaps?

Not too bad this year relative to previous ones anyway, can't be lavish, but not counting pennies either.

Personaly I wont find it hard, started well in advance and only have one child. I know a lot of people who will struggle a friend was telling me her 10 year old wants a iPhone and feels pressured to get it as her friends have one.

Once the kids are sorted thats all that matters.

I have no kids and I'm too mean to buy anything for anyone over 18 so I just keep my head down and it passes me by without incident. Lucky enough I suppose.

    10 year olds with iphones.

Parents have only themselves to blame for the pressure they are under buying there children these expensive presents. Not aimed at you friend but general society. A couple of hard Christmases might sort a lot of families out and sort out the difference between need and want. It will only benefit there children when they are older.
