Paying for a TV licence is more or less the same as going to the bog, taking €160 out of your wallet, wiping your arse with it and promptly flushing

Reeling In The Years was definitely one the best things they ever commissioned.

Don't forget Nationwide as also another standout programme on RTE1.

But there are some bad ones on that channel today or from years ago like Winning Streak, The Voice of Ireland, You're A Star, LLS (That has worsened ever since Tubs took over from PK).

I do watch RTE 2 for Mario Rosenstock, Rugby Matches, Soccer Matches (except LOI) and the odd Top Gear repeat. The rest of it I think is crap compared to the past.

Years before when it was Network 2 I used to see things like The Den, Knight Rider, Blackboard Jungle, Echo Island, The 60's Batman and The Monkees.

Reeling in the years is grand until the the last 10 minutes when Hello Darkness my Old Friend comes on and the IRA start blowing everything up.

RTE made a fortune selling the lyrics board around the world and it was pretty crap.

Every station on the planet hopes some crap cheap to made show hits with public and can be sold off for lots of money. That is why so many are made. It's all about money.
