A beautiful piece from a great brand. I love it, but it is all about personal taste.

Would you trust ordering this online?

    Hi,

I never saw this online store before but If you are planning to order from them I advise you to do some search and research for feedback from previous customers of the site. You really need to know a few details like what type of warranty is offered with your purchase, where is the watch located and posted you to (customs fees...) etc.

About the watch, I think it is a brilliant piece, really nice and good quality from a great brand.

    The brand name is Longines!
    http://www.longines.com/

If you buy on line outside the EU you will be unlikely to get this watch before mid January. And you will likely get hit for a few hundred in customs charges.
As fishguy said, I too don't know this webshop and that would be enough to put me off.

Try going in to some old fashioned real shops. Appleby's, Brown Thomas and Weir's in Dublin for example, see Longines. As do the loop in Dublin airport. You may well get the same watch with better security (returns etc) at the same or a better price.

Fields also have a large collection of Longines, but I don't see your one. http://www.fields.ie/watches/longines.html

Finally, Ernst and Jones, who have a shop in dundrum, has your watch at a decent price. http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/1297821/longines+men%27s+stainless+steel+black+canvas+strap+watch/

That's not the right watch - it can be had from Jura watches for £1,340 though.

Yeah thanks. It's one the dangers not being physically in a shop trying the watch on

Had a quote from a dublin shop who would order it in for 1425 including discount. They would require a 200 deposit though.

Nice price...now try a few others and see if they can beat that price?

Problem is no one will order it in without a deposit and am a bit hesitant to proceed given outlay

Lots of places stock Longines - if they don't have it in, they can certainly get it in for you. Depending on where you're based, I'd recommend Paul Sheeran's in Dublin

You can also get Longines at about 12.5% discount at Dublin Airport

Do they make very good watches? Is it a premier brand?

They are very good watches and excellent value IMO. They wouldn't be what a WIS would call high end, but certainly better than a lot.

I spent a lot of time last year looking for a new watch around the 2k mark and went for a longines in the end.

Sorry TH. The sale ended at 9.00pm last night. The bid was 270euro at 8.30pm. Phone rang and I had to pick wife up. Soooooo no idea what it went for.
I'm not one for buying off ebay but the seller was in England and it did look genuine. I would love a watch manufactured in 1958 (The year I was born) Fascinated to know what it went for.

Under 300 quid. Like I'm always saying droning on about except for some rare models* vintage Longines are seriously undervalued.

*ie their 1930/40's 30CH chronos, but even there though they can run to 5-7 grand, they're still undervalued compared to an Omega of the same period and far higher quality.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
