The journalism during the whole thing has been of an embarrassingly low standard. Thornley has been at the heart of that, while Moore hasn't really written that much so there isn't a body of evidence to criticise him on (and Thornley wasn't referring to Moore, he was referring to the papers).

It was an overreaction from Moore, Thornley never said what Moore thinks he did.

From the sublime to the ridiculous.

Nothing is said by the protagonists for a few days so the commentators start on each other. Mind you id pay to see Quinny and Franno knocking 7 bells out of Stephen Jones.

Thornley should have stayed out of it though, nothing to see here.

"Any time there is a statement by anybody else they go straight to ‘rent-a-quote’ Mark McCafferty (PRL CEO), quote him verbatim, and present the Rugby Champions Cup, which was never going to get off the ground, as a fait accompli"

Jesus he actually talks like that, I though it was just his writing style.

I can only presume that Moore is reacting to Thornley saying The Telegraph and so him write what the PRL tell him to write.

    Moore is over reacting though.

Yet he writes 'their' for 'there' and 'tow' for 'toe'.

Both pompous, arrogant blowhards with serious biases. Thornley is certainly being fed the party line, and seems to have no issue lapping it up, while Moore is an angry, angry man who occasionally makes a very good point.

Ah Moore is amusing, and speaks his own mind. But angry, angry I agree. However I prefer an opinion, which in fairness he usually tries to justify, than mindless meanderings and cliches.

I regret even reading that article. Storm in a teacup at best

He "justified" the Irish media for not wanting the movement of ERC based on influence which the Irish media was exerting and the much lower tax in Switzerland. Unfounded on both counts. There is no justifying bulls***.

I'm firmly in the GT camp for this argument, I like his articles and his style of journalism. I think his articles about the PRL and LnR debacle have been accurate, realistic and while possibly siding with the unions (the right side!) one can't really expect anything less seeing as we don't have any private ownership here in Ireland.

I was playing soccer once with Brian Blaney and he booted the ball out of the pitch into a back garden of a house nearby, as I went to look for it up popped Gerry's head to throw the ball back. I was dying to tell him it was Blaney that kicked it out but thought better of it! Ha

Moore is great, he's opinionated and biased to the hilt ( "Stop kicking it away!!") but he's an authentic traditionalist who loves the game.

He's like a more emotionally invested George Hook.

Except Moore's depth of knowledge of the game compared to Hook's is like comparing the Marianas Trench to a puddle in my back garden.

    And I don't have a back garden.

Somebody listening to Off the Balll messaged Moore on Twitter saying he didn't agree with Thornley on this issue. Moore requested more info, to which he was given a summarised version of what was said and responded in kind to this summary.
    Complete non story.

Just for clarity here: someone on Twitter gave him an erroneous and misleading account of what Thornley said, which he responded to, without checking his facts.

Now I'm really shocked! Someone on Twitter gave misleading information!
