Fine Due - Can I pay instead?

Partner got a fine in the post for speeding (not arguing with that, he didn't slow down quickly enough when changing speed zones in Dublin while working and got caught :o )

Anyway, fines due tomorrow at the latest, and I have the form and money here, but we noticed last night it says to present driver's licence in the post office when paying. My partner is working today and tomorrow from 6am until 9pm so it's impossible for him to pay it himself. Will there be a problem if I go in and pay it, or does it have to be him?

Due to his line of work, he can't take off in the middle of the day or just jump into a post office. It would be silly to take a whole day off work just to pay it if I could do it in his place.

He doesn't get a specified lunch break. He has to eat his sandwiches in his armoured van :o

ah so he did a GTA V and was speeding in an armoured car. Thats pretty badass, nice :D

Where can I pay my charge?
    • By telephone - All charges that do not have penalty points can be paid by telephone using laser or credit cards. Debit cards issued by banks outside of Ireland are not accepted. (Lo-Call 1890 3040 60 0r +353 504 59800 if calling from outside of Ireland)

Too much coin in the back of the van, took him longer to break - not nearly as exciting as GTA :p
I'll let him know about the phone, no-one mentioned that!!!

Only fines where there are no penalty points can be paid over the phone. If you go with a copy of his license you might be ok

You can pay his fine in the post office no problems they usually don't bother asking for the licence. Bring his driver number just in case they ask for it after that you should be fine paying it.

Just noticed that, bugger and damnation. I'll try my hand with his licence :(

Just realised that its 28 days, with the date of notice being day 1. Means it's due today instead of tomorrow. Uh-oh

You can pay at the post office with his licence. I got a speeding fine 77km in a 60km zone and my wife went to the post office wth a copy of my driving licence. No problems.

I unfortunately had to pay 120 euro as the speeding fine was delivered to a shop next door who forgot to give it to me for 3 weeks.

I rang but they won't accept any excuses for not paying within 28 days no matter how genuine the reason is. The only option for me would have been to go to court to appeal the additional amount and I thought it would cost me more than €40 to do that! They will give you an electronic receipt with amount paid , date , the fine notice number and the licence number on it

Definitely cant afford an extra charge! I'll be getting a lift into town later, hopefully there won't be any problems!
