    Hi All,

I am looking to get a MP3 player for my car stereo - 04 BMW 318.

I'd prefer to have a memory stick I can plug into the charger and play out of the speakers than changing the stereo itself - But I'm open to ideas!!

Any ideas of a good (but cheap) option?!

    Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to change the factory stereo then the only option I'm aware of is a Parrott Bluetooth kit which allows you to plug a USB stick into it and it plays the music through the amp of the Parrott kit. You can get a plug and play loom for your car so you don't have to start cutting and splicing wires.

You can get an AUX cable to connect to the back of your BMW Radio and run it out through either the Glove Box or the storage compartment under the radio. Once you have that, you can connect any type of MP3 Player phone and play it through the stereo.

I think this cable might be the one you are looking for.

Installation seems fairly simple. There are lots of videos on You-tube showing you how to do it...

Thanks for the reply - The Parrot kits look to be €250+ = That seems to be a heavy cost!

Thanks for the reply - I'm not that handy with fitting, especially when it comes to pulling off panels on the dash of my car!

I'm happy to opt for a new stereo if it can take a micro SD card (for MP3 playback) or a stereo that will dock with my Samsung GS3. Although I hear the docks can be problematic! My budget is about €100.

They are cheaper than that. I bought mine (9100 kit I think it's called) for about €160 inc the plug in loom and fitted it myself.

OK Thanks - I'm gonna go for the MP3 stereo option in Halfords...
Thanks again for all the suggestions and help

Check out caraudiocentre.com before halfords. Loads of cheap but quality headunits and they post to Ireland. Used them everytime i have needed ICE. Even done a few installs for me when I was living back in uk.

Already picked up a Pioneer CD/MP3/Android player for €50 in Halfords - Delighted with it.
