I got an email from sky that my broadband will be increasing from 20 euro to 50 euro month next month, I rang them up asking why its 40 euro for everyone else and he told me i was on connect broadband because i wasnt on the normal broadband network and i had to have my line updated or something. I told him i had broadband of the same speeds with both eircom and vodafone before i joined sky and how can they offer me normal broadband. He just said "I don't know". Anyone here of this connect broadband, are sky just talking through their hole.

    All explained here.

You're not on an unbundled (LLU) exchange, by the sounds of it. LLU is where Sky (or any operator) put their own equipment in to your local phone exchange. This allows them to offer better services and have more control over pricing (hence a tenner less a month). For all other (broadband-enabled) exchanges, like yours, they just resell standard eircom broadband (resell eircom's Bitsream wholesale product).

If you think you are on an unbundled exchange, then that's a different matter, but that's how the pricing works.

So who come vodafone don't pass on the extra cost or am I actually getting a better service off sky than I would from vodafone or eircom. We are talking 15-18 euro in difference here.
