    Hi there Fred Swanson,

When you completed your initial booking and paid through hotels.com , did you receive a confirmation e-mail as would be standard practice? What details were enclosed in that:
~ the actual hotel you booked?
~ details of hotel who sent you an e-mail (that you didn't book)

    Thanks,
    kerry4sam

Have you made contact today with the intended hotel and put the question to them as to why the other hotel have your details?

It could be any number of things incl
~ the second hotel could be providing the shuttle service for a few hotels and have your details for pick-up and maybe confused it's only for shuttle and not accommodation

Unusual to say the least :)

Try to make contact with original hotel and see if they can assist. Ensure you won't be charged by second hotel (ensure they don't have your payment details) and won't be charged twice.

Jeez, you only wanted a break-away, not a headache.

Anywhoo, try and made contact today with the intended hotel and put the question to them,

Hotels.com are owned by expedia so that explains why you booked with one company and got an email from the other. They often do this to me. It's essentially the same company.

Similarly, different hotels are often related to each other and have combined reservations teams so emails get sent from multiple names. Eg Sheraton and The Westin hotels are all owned by Starwood so essentially the same. Same with Novotel, Pullman and Ibis - all are owned by Accor.

I imagine it could be this. Google the two hotels and see if they are sister properties.
