Beach wedding dress

    Hi all,

I'm not an avid shopper so would love some advice on this. I'm getting married next year on a tropical beach and am trying to figure out what kind of dress to get. I'm not after a traditional wedding gown; the location will be hot and sandy so I don't want anything heavy or full length that will make me trip on the sand. I'm thinking a sort of fancy white beach dress if there is such thing? I'm having trouble finding anything I like online - possibly because I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for. :o I know, I'm sorry!

If it helps I would like something white, possibly short or knee length. I'd like to wear my hair up with some fresh flowers in it. I'm not terribly comfortable in strapless dresses and I plan on being barefoot during the ceremony. Can anyone suggest where I should start? Any of the bridal websites I've looked at so far aren't up my street at all. I'm really crap at this!

Have you any idea regarding the dress at all? Such as material, fitted/flowy, is lace an option or something you would avoid?

First off so jealous! Sounds so lovely

Monsoon would be my first place to check, their dresses are so elegant and unusual.

I saw a lovely dress in the summer in topshop, basic straight white ankle length I think but could've been full length, had a few spaghetti straps with little gold studs and they crossed over at the back, was very elegant and simple if that's what you're looking for, so you could try topshop website to see if they've anything similar.

Again- so jealous :) enjoy getting it all prepared!

Nothing too flowy maybe, I'm quite short so flowy things tend to make me look quite wide. I wouldn't rule out lace entirely but not sure if it would be comfortable in the heat?

I'm 5'3, size 10, very very pale skin with red hair. I hadn't thought of Monsoon, that's a brilliant idea. I think high street might be the way to go instead of bridal shops.

I would definitely stick with high street. Have you considered having a dress made for you? It would be the perfect size, you could choose the material you like, and it could be completely suited to your beach wedding. And I'm sure the dressmaker would be able to advise you on what suits you!

Ah, this is my comfort zone right here (even if I did go full-length in the end!)
