Nearly all insurance companies sub contract breakdown recovery out locally country wide. If you use your own recovery service then you will most likely be paying the bill yourself. No point in having breakdown assistance in that case.

I would imagine that regardless of whether it's contracted out or not (it probably is), if you want them to pay for it you'll have to use whoever they provide.

You sure? The breakdown assistance is usually included in the standard comprehensive insurance policy.

we're with the aa for breakdown and recovery and never had to wait more than an hour.wouldn't use axa breakdown as a few years ago we took it out and specifically asked if it covered uk and was told yes.we broke down in uk and they said it wasn't covered.it took 9 hours to sort and it was only sorted due to a lovely young lady at axa in London as Ireland hq didn't give a ****e.
