Found this guy online today. Based in Lahinch. Incredible work. Enjoy a trip round his site and his stunning galleries.

    Hi Myksyk.

I saw your post and wanted to leave a comment. I have met George Karbus on a number of occasions and he came across as a sound guy. I have followed his work for years and he has some outstanding shots. However as a business person he is very disappointing to deal with. I received a gift from a large bunch of friends who chipped in to get me a photography course with him. This was purchased over a year and a 1/2 ago and still to date I have been unable to confirm a date that I can do the course. I have had un answered emails and un returned calls but by the most part most of my emails were responded to by unavailability on his part. He refused a refund so I could put it towards a lens and I have been left feeling very frustrated and annoyed about the whole thing. If you/someone are thinking of getting a voucher from him I would just like you to be aware of my experience.

Good to know as I definitely would be thinking of doing a course having him so close. Never heard of the guy before a couple of days ago ... as you say some truly brilliant shots .... disappointing to hear your feedback but much appreciated. In fairness, a year and a half of unavailability?

I know George fairly well and he has been very busy with projects in the Azores and Maui over the last year, he is a very busy tog and he is always in demand for courses.
This guy spends every waking moment in the water so trying to nail him down for a course would be very hard.

In fairness then he shouldn't be offering courses.

In fairness no one can for-see how busy there going to be either!

In all fairness if you are a course provider and are too busy to provide what has been paid for in advance within a reasonable time frame than it only seems fair that you agree to a refund if one is requested.

If a client has booked and paid for a course with you you MAKE the time necessary to schedule the course within a reasonable time frame.

And totally this, refusing a refund and also not being able to arrange a date in a year and a half is farcical. Admittedly we're only getting powerj's side of the story here but at this stage I'd be taking the guy to the small claims court or something to get my money back.
