The thermostat in my immersion element is tripping every few days. I open it up and press the reset button on the thermostat and its fine for about 4 days and then it trips again like this morning. I get up and no hot hot water. Im just wondering is this a sign that the element needs replacing or the thermostat?

element needs replaced normally, water is getting into it which is why its tripping

The reset could also be a hi limit reset, this could trip if the water is too hot, check and adjust thermostat.

I will look at this. I think the temp is set at about 60.

If you have a secondary heat source for the water i would also check that's not too high.
