Yes, but if you are colour blind you can't drive official vehicles.

Pity as I have a full driving licence, :P
But it's still possible to become a guard though?

Highly unlikely if you can't drive the cars.

People who are colour can distinguish between different colours ie red green, but in the colour blind test they struggle to see the figures within the test. I'm red green colour blind, can easily distinguish between them but not in a test scenario, might be hard to understand if you are not colour blind. What the poster is saying is correct in that they can distinguish between the colours on a day to day basis, but just can't pass the test

So the test is complete nonsense then? 100 years of science written off.

Pretty much. Colour blindness tests are not as heavily relied on as they used to be. I think in the case of guards it's probably irrelevant. A lot of industries use a something that I thinks called the lantern test for people where the ability to distinguish colour differences is vital. The test the pop refers to is still important for the likes of electricians etc

The regs refers to by the pop also can't distinguish blue colour blindness, it's not as common as red green but people can suffer from it

You can get contact lenses to help with colourblindness.

You can get contact lenses to help with colourblindness.

But you can't wear them in a test.
