Select button not working on sky remote

    The select button on my sky remote has stopped working. All the other buttons are ok and it's not the batteries. I tried resetting it by taking out a battery and holding down the select button for a minute. This works for about half an hour or so and then it goes back to not working again. Anyone any idea how or if it can be fixed before I splash out on a new one.

    More than likely there is dirt or some form of grease stuck underneath the pad preventing the remote from making contact. You may be able to take the remote apart and clean with methylated spirits etc. Or sometimes simply rubbing the board with your finger is enough to remove the grease etc..

    take great care opening the remote, very often there is a tiny screw hidden inside the battery department.

    Thanks for the reply, yes you could be right but it works for a while after taking out the batteries and holding the select button for a minute.
