Do you feel your age?

    Well do ya?

One good thing about the economic crisis is that I feel, at 32, like my twenties have been extended. Kind of as if it weren't for recent times, I would have been much much more settled by now! I don't really think I look my age. Not that I look youthful, I just think that I have a face that's difficult to put an age on, which kinda helps me feel a little more age-less.

    What are your thoughts, AH?

I feel my age and it's great. My 40s have been the best years of my life so far. I understand the world, my family, my business, and what my role is in each of them.

I feel my age. I like to run my fingers round the contours of the figure. 38, so voluptuous, so undulating.

She is 3 years younger than me, so nope.

The trouble is with this recession is that young folk arent getting mortgages and when they do they will be paying them back well into their 60s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,465 ✭✭✭✭cantdecide

I used to remember when all this was fields :(

It's a bit awful alright. I'd like to buy sometime soon, but even at a 25 year mortgage, that puts me at 54 when it's paid off.

My parents had theirs paid off when they were in their early 40s.

At 28, I don't feel or act any differently than when I was 21......probably a bit smarter...........a tiny bit............

What makes me feel my age is seeing all these people I know who are younger than me or those I went to school with are popping out babies / getting married.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭lost in cork

its a great feeling not having a mortgage

Generally no, I feel younger than I am.

Freaks me out seeing people my own age or younger getting married/having kids, I would be years off any of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,089 ✭✭✭✭LizT

23, feel like I'm still around 18. I agree with others, freaks me out to see people my age getting married and having kids, I still feel lightyears away from even considering that :P

I'm kinda in the same head space as I'd like to have a place of my own. If you buy in the next couple of years, you'll be one of those smug fcukers down the road that bought at the end of a recession and you'll be boasting about the value of your house. You would have a very good chance in years to come of wiping the mortgage out early too. House prices today are probably a third of what they would have been if there had been no recession.

I used to live with a Swedish friend who's about 5/ 6 years younger than me. There were a couple of homeless peeps in the area and I'd always leave a few bob. One day, I dropped a few coins into the cup of an older lady and she said. 'Thanks for that, sir, lovely day isn't it- is this your daughter?'.

    I'm 20, but don't think I've matured at all since I was about 16.

I realised last night I'm only a couple of years off the age my parents were when they got married, that scared the shít out of me, I'm way too young for marriage!

Late 30's but these fúcking hangovers are literally killing me of late, so yes I am felling my age:o

I remember being able to go out Thur/Fri/Sat night and probably watch footie on a Sunday evening and get up for work on a Monday, no bother.

now if I go out for one night I am goosed for days after.

Its true..the older you get the worse the hangover.

    True true

Used to be 3 days drinking one day recovery ... Now its the other way around

Took me some time to get over that, and having a few drinks to help with that process didn't help either

I felt like a 20something until very recently. Then I spent some time with some 20somethings and I realised I'm nothing like that anymore..

I'm 23 and always thought I felt like a bit of a teenager still... Until I spent some time with some teenagers recently. Now I feel old.

I'm almost 40 and when bouncers let me into a pub or club, I still think: 'Yes! Suckers.'

I feel so much older most days. I've a bit of a sh*t life, don't know if that ages you.

Its only after a night out I truly feel mid 30s. I don't do hangovers well anymore. And they last 2 days generally. 3 if its a complete blow out like a wedding or something.

Also, the fact that having no plans is something that excites me makes me feel every bit my age :(

I turned 20 in November and realized I can't really sing along to Teenage Dirtbag any more.

    So that sucked.

I get that, I've been going into the bookies since I was 12, (not so much any more as I use internet) but still 20 years later I feel the same way keeping a low profile, ducking and diving.:) as if I'm afraid I'll get chucked out for being a youngster.

I don't feel my age at all. Don't look it either *smug*.

But then I remember I am older than I feel. Like I finished school 14 years ago. Bought my first house 10 years ago. My driving license expires in February. And loads of other stuff, and then I remember - balls on it anyway - I'm getting on.

I've ploughed through some of the hurdles recently (renewed my license in 2011). I still feel pretty youthful.

IT CAME OUT WHEN I WAS STILL A TEENAGER:(

'Why Does It Always Rain on Me' came out when I was 17. (The chorus goes 'Why does it always rain on me, is it because I lied when I was 17' in case you didn't know). It does make me think.

    I feel 27...because I am 27. :)
I still like to have fun, but not in the same way I would have at 21. It's better now. I'm also more clued into the world I guess and appreciate things I wouldn't have before in life.
At about 23 is when I really felt like I had left my younger self behind and become a proper adult. Before at family parties I probably would have chatted away to the younger folk and never really felt like one of the Adults. But now I'll be more likely to hang out with my uncles/aunts and usually older relatives.
Whereas years ago if they were chatting about something such as the economy I really wouldn't of had any input, now they can't shut me up :D
I have friends in their early 20s and friends in there early 30s who I get on with so I don't really see a difference in small increases of age.

I'm 39 in a few days and feel fitter and healthier than I did in my 20s, the fact that I'm excercising and not skullin pints every weekend could be a factor though.

I'm 22 and I do feel my age. I was always been an old-head-on-young-shoulders type anyway, so really I've just caught up with my mental age.

I don't look my age though; I look older. Never get IDed anymore :(
