I'm in the process of struggling through building my first watch, and I've snapped off one of the pins for the subdial at the 9 o'clock position when attempting to mount hands ( I was trying to mount hands just to ensure that all the mechanisms for the subdials were working before I proceeding to machining the case)

Any advice on how/where to get replacement parts and a better technique for mounting hands without damaging anything!!

    Found a thread here

Haven't done any watch work myself yet but I'm interested. I have read that it's a good idea to use sticky tape or rodeco to maneuver the tip of the hands whilst pushing them onto the pinion?

The tape is quite a clever idea for the hand positioning, thanks for that!

Just to follow up on this, I've determined that the piece I damaged is part #224 and I've ordered the replacement part. On ETA's website, they have a very good disassembly/assembly guide that goes through the process step by step for the 7750.

The downside is that the bit I need to replace is 71 steps deep into the disassembly process. There are many, many things that could go wrong along the way, but I'll give it a try!

Sounds like an interesting process and something that I would love to do myself of I had the time and space. Let us know how you get on.
