Total lack of respect shown by the great leaders of society.

    Not really.

It was a joyous event in a stadium filled with singing, dancing S Africans.

Apparently the picture was taken during an interlude anyway.

Its not all piety & tears.

Today was all about celebrating the life of Madiba.

Besides, if you listened to Obamas words you will see the enormous affection &respect Obama had for Mandela.

    Exactly!

The guy was 95 years old and achieved more in his life than most people ever will. It's not time to be sad, it's a time for them to celebrate his life. Being happy to have had him is one of those ways.

The turnout was very good at the start, however hours of rain emptied the lower tiers.

It wasn't a selfie - he just aced Angry birds. That or they are watching a video link of a massive new oil discovery in Syria and going "Oooooh!"

Well the fact the ANC put up a randomer on stage to pretend he was a sign language interpreter, showed their lack of respect for the occasion as well. You can't fake sign language, this buck was hilarious, every thing he signed was the same actions no matter what was said.

Obama is incredibly insincere. I was hopeful everyone would see that by now.

Call me a cynic :P but this is all staged BS.

Reality is Obama could pick his nose and there would be a hundred photographers taking a snapshot. Obamas PR team have really spun him to be 'trendy' - Going as far as to having a twitter account :pac:

I bet you the keywords "Obama Selfie" are doing quite well right now between the 18 to 25 demographic ;)

Agreed. I read a comment somewhere yesterday on another site saying to watch and that the whole day would end up being about Obama. Mission accomplished.

Not really. He spoke very eloquently about Mandela's legacy and how being a statesman mattered as much about looking after your own people as foreign affairs. I'm sure Bradley Manning, Edward Snowden et al would smart from the blatant hypocrisy

Infairness, the man did that himself when he publish that nonesense about women not being funny, lost so much respect for him when I read that article - but that is for another thread ;)

It looks like there's a logo on the face of that phone, maybe they're looking at photos of times they all met Mandela?

It's funny that he had so much respect for Madiba when they were politically diametrically opposed in almost every way.

Apparently she's easy, so all the male leaders wanted to be near her to get at her before she got drunk and went home with Mugabe.

How does that have anything to do with be outraged over a selfie?
