Quick question lads. I've a lab due to whelp on the 23Rd. What's your opinion on boiling rabbits, taking the meat of the bone and feeding let's say a quarter a day to the bitch mixed with red mills mother and puppy? Was thinking maybe shooting half a dozen, cooking, dividing it into portions and freezing. All opinions welcome. Cheers in advance.

I wouldn't go changing her diet, i'ld add a bit of protein like chicken but nothing drastic.

I'ld keep stuff like weetabix and porridge handy if she starts to go downhill on you for any reason, keep an eye out for mastitis, yellow puss coming from the teats.

I had my bitch on Mother and Puppy.
I gave her sardines, scramble eggs and meat waste as extra.
    Mother and pups very healthy.
Got a bottle of whelpi too and gave it to her.
Rabbits would work too, but sounds like hard work.
Green tripe very good too if you can get it.

im rearing a litter of salukis at the moment,2 weeks old and all im doing is plenty of red meat,beef/goat/horse meat.It produces the essentials to keep the milk flowing.with this I add some dog meal and table scraps.the only thing I believe is to give her plenty regularly. My bitch has 11 pups and rearing them very well, shes in good condition and retaining her weight .

why not freeze the rabbit for 2weeks and then feed raw, much more beniffical for her than cooked . edited to say : and feed the whole carcass

Out last night with a neighbour at the rabbits using his .22lr Winchester lever action. Lovely gun to shoot. We ended up with just two. The hailstones turned us back after 15 mins.

    6 days Dog food mix!
