    Hi folks,

My parents have a Samsung TV that when they plug in its constantly knocking itself on and off. It doesn't even display a picture, literally comes on (a little noise) turns back off (a little noise) 3 second break comes back on and follows the same pattern.

Sometimes after 10 minutes or so it then stays on but this evening they had it on for 20 minutes and it was still continuing in the same pattern.

Anybody have any experiences of this? Know what the problem might be or how to go about (or go to) fixing it?

    Thanks.

    Moved from Comp & Tech

The issue could possibly be caused by capacitors which have gone bad. Does it flicker a bit before it comes on/take a bit of time for the image to stabilize?

Sorry for the wrong forum post.

It flickers at times but not all the time. Are these capacitors a big job? How much would I be looking to pay to get the repaired?

i have a samsung that does the same thing, mainly at night when the tv is turned off, it will make the same sound it does when i turn it on by the remote and then 10 or so seconds later it will make the sound it makes when i turn it off by the remote, no picture will come on the screen, i got it into my head that it had something to do with the digital switchover because it never happened on the old aerial but when we got a saorview signal this started to happen, i thought they were sending out a signal to my television to look for new channels in the saorview line up, i was going to take the aerial coax out of the tv for a night or two to see if it makes a difference.
