3DS System Transfer

    Hi folks,

I've a 3DS to 3DS XL system transfer to do on Xmas day, so just wondering what the procedure is? I've looked at some vids/tut's but I'm left with a few questions if I may...

    1) What's all this linking of accounts I'm hearing about? I possible have done this already when I got the Wii U, but am really unsure if I have or not. How do I check if I have linked my Nintendo accounts, or where can I do it?

    2) Am I right in understanding that I'll have to use the 2GB sdhc card from the original 3DS after the system transfer? Can I not use the 4GB card that comes with the XL?

    3) Re the Mario 3D Land promotion, at what point do I factor this in? Before the transfer? After it?

    Would appreciate any help :)

    1. Not sure about the account linking stuff yet (it only started today, so I'm sure a few guides will pop up over the next few days).

    2. You can use any SD card. You can copy the contents from your 2gb card to your 4gb card at any time. That card will only work in your main 3DS though. When you do the transfer process from 3DS to 3DSXL, your XL will become your primary machine, and your content will be removed from the original (content is moved, not copied).

    3. Do it after transfer, I'd say. If you have a Club Nintendo account, register your XL and your qualifying game, and follow the instructions for the promotion.

I'm nearly sure I heard Retro talk about this linking of accounts ages ago, maybe ot was something different though. I know the new way means you can share the balance between eShops etc, which is nice.

Cheers re the memory card info, I didn't know you could just transfer contents from one card to another {obviously drm is in place}. So do the system transfer, which will make the original 2GB card the main one, & after that, copy the contents over to 4GB card?

Cool, will register the console & game when all is done. Cheers Mr E :)

    Awesome, cheers Dave.

I had watched a vid on YT previously which made it seem more convoluted than that, so happy days :)
