    Hi all!

Following on from my earlier post, I bought a secondhand genuine leather dress online and just received it. I absolutely love it and it fits perfectly BUT it's STINKS of cigarette smoke.

Want to wear it to my Christmas party on Thursday. Any advice on cleaning it at home?

The easiest way to rid the smell of smoke from leather (or any material) is to hang it out in fresh air. Could you put it outside to air the dress out & keep an eye in case of rain?

Edited to add - a damp sponge with a mixture of half vinegar/half water works in eliminating odours from leather. Sponge the lining of the dress & turn it inside out. Do not saturate the lining, just dampen it, particularly under the arms

Thanks dollybird, bought a specialised leather cleaning and it only smells of leather now after two coats over two days :)

Brought it to graftong cleaners and they told me it would take SIX WEEKS and cost €69 :-/

It was €15 and I got it in the leather shop on harcourt street, they gave me a few pieces of sheepskin to apply it too. :)
