Annoying Beeping Tones on Telephone Line

    Hi Guy's,
We have had issues with people hearing beeping noises/tones on the line when we are talking to them. The person making the call is unaware of the tones but it is annoying for the called party, therefore we are losing calls as people just hang up rather than tolerate these audible tones.
We are using a Panasonic PBX and are using GSM gateways with 3 mobile.
Has any one any ideas on what is causing this problem.

You have 'second call' or 'call waiting' turned on.
You should be able to turn it off via a menu on the phone if it is a display phone that is.

Also you should check your GSM boxes.
If you want to return busy to callers when that mobile number is busy proceed as follows:
Power off GSM box, remove the SIM card(s), fit SIM card to an open mobile phone and turn off call waiting, call forwarding as follows:

#43# - this turns off call waiting on the SIM number
##21# - this cancels any immediate divert
##61# - this cancels any divert on no answer
##62# - this cancels any divert on unreachable
##67# - this cancels any divert on busy

It is possible for you to interrogate the SIM to find out what diverts are in place
Have a look at This Link or contact your SIM provider

Thanks Xantia for your post. I only wish this was a simple fix but we have no management on our sims and we have confirmed this with our carrier.
The tones are not call waiting but rather come in bursts as if people are hitting the keys on there dial pad. These tones are only heard by the remote user and not by the person initiating the call.
This issue has been widely reported on threads in the states but involves VoIP carriers. The problem was never resolved in any forum and we are at a loss as to what is causing this darn beeping and no one seems to be able to throw any light on the subject.
We have been talking at length to Panasonic but they have never had any reports of this problem before. We have spoken to the carrier again with a negative response and we have changed the gateways but the problem still persists.
Anyone with any ideas as we are going to lose clients if we cannot resolve this issue.

Your carrier wont know what is on the SIM's, you have to take them out physically and run in those codes by using a phone.
I had to do it last week for a small company.

What is the model of the Panasonic PBX
