How to migrate from APS-C to Full Frame

A while back I purchased a Nikon F80 for a couple of quid on ebay, at the time I was doing a black and white film photography course. Anyway, long story short the viewfinder on that camera and the general user experience have left me wanting to change my D90 APS-C cropped sensor and some lenses (Nikon 18-200) for a full frame alternative. I think I would like to trade in for a second hand Nikon D700 (alternative suggestions welcome).
    I have some other Nikon lenses that I will hold onto (N 50mm f/1.8, S 150mm f2.8, N 70 - 300 f/slow, SB-600) so other brands are probably not an option.

So my question is what is the best/most cost effective way to go about it?

Go to a physical shop (can someone recommend one) and try to do a trade there?

Sell current equipment online (ebay, although I've never sold anything on ebay before) and buy online also?

    Other possible options?

    I've recently went from a Canon 600D to a Canon 6D.

I ended up having to break up the collection in the sense that I sold the body with the kit lens and a few others on their own. Most of it went on Adverts.ie.

Same with selling a car or trading in, you'll always get more selling yourself. A camera shop has to give you some money, spend money cleaning/servicing, factoring in a warranty and then maybe some profit. All that extra cost has to come out of what your lens is worth to you.

I still had to put money to the 6D in the end but a lot less than if I had traded it all in.

Thanks MarkN, Do you think I should try to sell D90 on its own or with the 18 - 200?
I also have a 35 f1.8 which is fantastic with the D90, maybe I should bundle them?
Was the move from cropped to full worthwhile?

Don't sell the 35mm as it will be super on a full frame too. The D90 with the 18 to 200 as you suggest yourself is a good selling combination.
Just a reminder that with Nikon full frame bodies you can use lens which are for cropped sensors ( the D700 for instance crops the sensor when you use a lens for crop.) I use D700 cameras and would highly recommend them to you.
The D90 camera has video which the D700 doesn't have. Also the D90 is still being sold new so that should help you in selling your one. Good luck with whichever way you go.

I feel the pictures are sharper and clearer, many will say it's in my head.

The ISO difference however is not in my head. You simply cannot push a crop into the ISO zone you can with on a FF. You also step into a camera that the higher end glass was designed for so it's nice to have the best of both also.

Have never used the D90 for video so won't miss that feature :)
Enough variables to worry about without adding time to them.
Now to get some pics and specifics together.
Thanks for the help and advice guys, much appreciated.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD :)

same situation, D90 moving to full frame. thought about D700 but its only 14 mp, not a great leap up, so thinking d610. D600 dropped in price but has stabalised and now is very little differnce in price between the two so D610 is worth the bit extra.

    from camerapricebuster.co.uk
    D600 Body £1358.95
    D610 Body £1439.00

as for glass and having a camera fail (loose battery grip it turned out to be) during a christining keeping the D90 and the D610 seems a good idea. The D90 is an amazing camera and for the price secondhand D90s are a steal. I would regret selling it and can leave the 17-55mm f/2.8G glass on it permantly and use the 50mm 1.4 on the d610 as these are the two peices of glass that seem to always be on the d90.

D700 is 12 mp but a far superior camera to the wonderful D90.
