Is there a way I can copy my current channel list so I can upgrade my firmware and then put the same channel list back on the Ariva 210 combo

Posted this in satellite forum also as not sure which is the correct place. Mods feel free to delete as appropriate

    Cheers

on the 150 and 250 there's an option to save the channel list as a .bin file, you then restore it as default.db

Will the one channel list work with different firmware versions Tony?

I could well be wrong but I didn't think it did.

I'm not 100% sure it will but I'd be surprised if it did not.

I didn't think it did but I will be thrilled if it does as it'll save me about 4 hours of tedium one of the coming nights. I shall report back when I try it!

Create a programme list on an Ariva 102E.

I have a second one which has later firmware and an up to date channel list. I had started creating the most recent channel list on the one with the earlier firmware (I don't want the later firmware on this box as there seems to be a flaw in one part of it!) so I am going to try and use the method you mentioned to copy the channel list to the one with the earlier firmware.

    Just a quick update....

Tony's link here seems to work perfectly to copy a channel list from any Ariva box using any firmware to a different box. To be more specific, in my case, it worked to copy the up to date channel list between the 52E, 102E and 250. Thanks Tony!!

Only thing it doesn't do is copy the favourite list headings, but all the channels are in the correct list and order, so you just have to re-enter the heading.

As you are restoring to factory settings twice during the process, it also resets such things as the "local time" and the "clock in standby" , etc. No big deal but just to be aware of.

Beyond that, it's fantastic to be able to transfer the lists between boxes. It takes me about 3 hours to scan and create a list from scratch on a box. At least now, I'll only have to do it on one box and work from there!
