Motherboard power connections

After flicking through my motherboard manual I have an uneasy feeling that I did not plug in both power connections.

I certainly did plug in the 24pin, but I have a feeling I didn't plug in the 8pin(12V). Currently I am in England so can not check. Computer did seem to be running fine.

My question is, would the motherboard run without the 8pin?

Motherboard is: ASRock z87 extreme 4

EPS (ATX 2x4pin) is for CPU, 24-pin powers the rest of the board. If you had EPS unplugged, only fans and LEDs would come up, PC wouldn't even boot up.

Ahhh, so it must be in. Sorry I just had a freak out. I was sure that I hadn't plugged in two power connections.

    Thanks a mill Raymix.
