Im going to a christmas party its part of work, were all meeting up in a pub setting, but i dont know what to wear, will i go smart casual like a work thing,or will i go all out sequins and what not, i dont know what to wear and got loads of clothes..!!!
(so much clothing i need the charity bin for some and to ebay others).
Velvet dresses,a gold dress and some sequinned 20's dresses,i know the sequinned 20's dresses are very on trend at the minute but i hate the feeling of well everyone else will be wearing one..I was thinking if i do wear the 20's dress i could wear it with a feather and a fur shrug and some tights, however i dont know how many will be wearing the 20's dresses or even putting feathers in their hair etc.

But Is there any way i can dress completely different without breaking the mould too much,im not saying dress with a gypsy hoop dress or anything completely leftfield.

No jokes please this is serious stuff,im at a loose end will i go into town and spend some more, when i have a wardrobe full?(i mean its full im not even sure how many dresses i have i lost count after 10)..

If you have any fashion ideas of how and what to wear and what to wear it with i would be greatful and see if i can apply it to my wardrobe.

The last thing i want is to spend more money, which i dont really have to be spending on stuff,im all shopped out after the christmas spend even got decorations the lot, they made tinsel of me money..:(

I have the same dilemma... work night out, meeting in pub, most are conservative dressers... but I reason that as it is the festive season there are going to be plenty of people in the pub that are dressed up to the max, even if they aren't in my group. So I am going to don sequins. Most of the fun of going out is in the dressing up I think!

I was then thinking maybe to play it safe a sequin top and work pants and black heels maybe a nice clutch (i dont have any good clutches atm).

I think a work night out isn’t the place to try and dress completely different. I know you want to show off your own style, but sometimes with work things it’s better to play it safe. I think I would avoid the sequin dress with feather shrug, it could all look a bit fancy dress and it sounds very dressy for a pub thing.

What would you normally wear on a night out? It’s important to be comfortable so I would go with something you feel good in and maybe customize it with accessories. For the official work night out, I would wear a dress (but we go for a meal) and for the casual few drinks on the day we break up, I just wear a dressy pair of jeans and a nice top.

Definitely try and wear something you already have, the great thing about a work do is that they are unlikely to have seen your going out clothes before, so they won’t know it’s not new!

If it were me, I would go for a nice dress or else a dressy pair of trousers and spangly top.

Thanks for the advice girls i think i know what to do now, play it safe and maybe dress it up with a sparkly top or go with a sparkly pants..Depending on which i want to be the centre piece..

For work i think it should be more fun though,i bought a 20's dress for nearly 200 and im a bit gutted i cant really wear it for a work do..

Do you work somewhere very conservative? Have you ever been to a work night out there before? Or could you ask the other women in the office what they are wearing? You should wear the dress if you are comfortable with it. I wouldn't worry as long as it isn't overtly sexy or revealing, the dress sounds lovely and as the previous poster said, there will be loads of spangly dresses in the pub, so you won’t look out of place. Although I would check what the other women are wearing, I would hate to turn up in a sequined dress and find that they are all wearing workwear!

Lol yeah true it didnt even occur to me to ask the others what they are wearing, this is my first work do with them so im not sure of the territory there yet.

I would say its kind of conservative i wouldnt imagine people dancing on tables like eejits or anything like that,so yeah i will definately be second guessing this.

I would ask around, if others are wearing dresses, then go with your 20's dress. It sounds more suitable for a work do than some of the belts that masquarade as dresses these days! I think most people get quite dressed up for Christmas parties, so I'm sure you'll fit right in.
