a protestant was employed by a Catholic agency to come into your church to teach you how to "do church"?

    I had the interview today......

I THINK it went OK, but there could be 17 better folk that me interviewed too......

I don't get your post? There are many protestants employed by the Catholic Church. (and Jews and Muslims come to think of it).

    What exactly is the Job?

No longer a Catholic as such, but I can't see that it would be a problem - in fact it can be an advantage to have someone with a different perspective. One example would be Ian Elliott, a Presbyterian who runs the child protection office.

Hope you get good news about the job!

So long as there was the requisite qualifications met and a good effort made to project the ethos of the agency - I'd say not an issue and also best of luck.

If it something technical it is fair to give it to the most qualified person, when it goes into the spiritual I would start thinking "what is the purpose of me being here? Are we doing folklore?"

Is this Catholic agency one of those liberal modernist ones that is try to make the church more protestant?

If so you have nothing to worry about. Just let me know which parishes you're working so I can avoid them.

If the agency is traditional Catholic it would be down to your qualifications and your ability to work to the rules according to the Magesterium.

One gap in our knowledge here is what is meant by "do church" ?

now now folks lets not get grumpy!

its a project to get parishes to work together and pool resources, skills and gifts, rather than sink in glorious isolation.

its something we've done as a church in our area over the years so it's nothing new to me.....

    Who's grumpy?

That doesn't sound like "doing church". It sounds more like "doing parish" or "doing community". It's a coordinator\facilitator job and I wouldn't object to a pagan agnostic doing it as long as they respect the ethos and don't try to sureptitiously introduce nefarious conceptualizations.

As stated already, if you have the qualifications and you're capable, good luck!

Good luck... I still don't get this thread... There are many non catholics who work for the Catholic Church, or Catholic institutions...

I worked on 2 projects paid by Free Presbyterians and COI and as a Catholic I had no issues, They paid well.

What has religion got to do with it?

    And the difference would be?
Is their a difference between community and church? Specifically religious community as opposed to the residents association.

And bad luck Martin, good luck in the future.

The Church is a mystic body and it deals with the supernatural, religious communities have a double nature, they are temporal association of men and part of the Church. Everyone of good will can participate in the temporal association but there is a religious part that can be only for those who have the same faith.
