I'll be finished an exam in Dublin on Friday lunch time (I commute for Offaly) and I want to sample lots of craft beer on tap, pubs that I know of are as follow, Cassidy's, Porterhouse, The Black Sheep, The Brew Dock and Against the Grain. Do you know of any more that are quite central as my last train is at 7.30 from Hueston.

The Bull and Castle is in the right direction and usually has the best Irish selection in town. L. Mulligan Grocer is quite near Heuston too. Farrington's in Temple Bar is also worth a look.

Could make your way to Mulligan's in Stoneybatter? Take you 15 mins to walk from there to Heuston afterwards

JW Sweetmans off oConnell bridge ( they make there own beers)
    Farringtons in Temple bar
Brewery Corner under the arch on the south side of the ha'penney bridge.
The Bull and Castle up near Christ church, big beer hall with great beer.

Bull & Castle is a good bet, but for a nicer (IMO) atmosphere consider Against the Grain or the Black Sheep. You'll avoid the Porterhouse(s) if you ask me.

There's also The Brew Dock opposite Connolly, but I often find it way too rammed, esp. at this time of year.

Oops. Just realised you listed all of these yourself.

and is to be avoided at all costs - total rip-off merchants (arch).

aimed squarely at tourists in a bad way.

Maybe isnt the cheapest but the OP asked for places like the above and thats why i mentioned it. Certainly isnt in my favourite bar list.

I'd go for The Black Sheep, not too far from the LUAS line which'll bring you straight to Heuston. They have Kinnegar on tap, which is the clincher for me!

Mulligans doesn't open till 4 on a Friday according to their website and I'll be hitting a pub for lunch time, The Black Sheep might be best for lunch and beer selection but I've never been there, is it good and more importantly does it have Bigfoot on tap

The Brew Dock is quite literally right beside the Busaras Luas stop which will take you straight to Heuston

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I'd be highly surprised to find Bigfoot on tap anywhere in Ireland...I stand to be corrected though

I've certainly seen it in Against the Grain. The Galway Bay Brewery pubs do have a fairly regular rotation of Sierra Nevada and Flying Dog beers on draught.

If you have a smartphone, get the BeoirFinder app. It's the best resource for finding craft beer on a phone.

I ended up in The Brew Dock and The Black Sheep, I loved The Brew Dock, great selection as does The Black Sheep but I preferred the decor and atmosphere of The Brew Dock

    Yeah it's a strange one.
The Black Sheep has a better abd bigger selection but I prefer The Brew Dock myself too. Just feels more like a "local" boozer. The staff are all bang on too.

Reminds me most of Salt House in Galway.

Yeah I found the staff spot on in The Brew Dock, it has the right mix of a traditional Irish pub but with good food and great beer, I found The Black Sheep fairly high on the auld pretentious meter

Mulligan's is a good bet but that's a nice little trot from Heuston.

I was in Farrington's earlier this week and I was very impressed with the selection. They even have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on tap.

    haha, yes it is.

Brew Dock, Bull & Castle and Farrington's are probably the three best boozers in Dublin City.

I, and other people, have given Cassidy's a hard time for the Hipster element, but I have to say I've always found the staff absolutely bang-on in there. Friendly, willing to have a chat if it's quiet and pretty knowledgeable about the beers.

The Bull & Castle is a great boozer. The only pub in the city centre to serve bottled beer at something approaching the correct temperature.

As for the other two, who wants to drink in Temple Bar or the ghetto? Ew. Against The Grain or The Headline for me.

My main gripe with Cassidy's is just the volume of the music in there. Beyond that it's grand. Even if it is crawling with bad haircuts, skinny jeans and sweater vests.
