Downgrading from 4.3 to 4.1.2 - Can't register on Network

I just downgraded my Samsung Galaxy S3 from 4.3 to 4.1.2 because of the multitude of issues with the software. Since the downgrade my phone no longer registers on the Vodafone network. I used odin 3.0.9 but there was no PDA option and I only had the 1 archive file. I used the CDC option. Could this have caused the problem? If so, what way should I used Odin to do the install if there is no PDA or Phone option to load the file? Thanks

It was from http://www.sammobile.com with these details

    Product Code: VDI
    PDA: I9300XXEMF1
    CSC: I9300VFGEMF1
    MODEM: I9300BUEMF2

It is supposed to be the Vodafone release based on the search I did for the firmware. It was a dirty flash. Do you think it would be worth doing again clean? And by clean does that just mean doing a factory reset before the install or is there another way to do it? Thanks

Flash the UK-BTU rom from Sammobile using Odin. It is official Samsung ROM and would invalidate your warranty. Make sure you complete wipe the phone beforehand.

I'm guessing your modem is now on what is called EFSv2.
The original rom is EFSv1. Older roms can't read EFSv2.
    Find a newer Rom.

This has much more info on the subject

and when using Odin with 1 md5 file, do you use the CSC option?

What's the version and was it an official release? If you downloaded it, where did you get it?

    Vodafone Ireland:
    http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=VDI#firmware

    UK-BTU:
    http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=BTU#firmware

Both ROMs are official Samsung ROMs so your warranty is fine.

I would go with UK-BTU because a) No Operator rubbish on it and b) You will get any future updates from Samsung and not Vodafone.

    Flash with Odin.

Are you sure that's the updated fixed 4.3? The build date is October 26th

Don't know - build date can be different than release date which is November.

Try the UK-BTU Rom if you're going to try either, nothing to lose really, you're not having much luck at the moment :p

Flash the UK-BTU rom....if it has been fixed then the BTU will have the fix long before Vodafone....

Did that and still no joy so flashed it again and it's finally working and I'm back on the network :) I have noticed that slight lag between clicking the home button and the screen waking up again. That was one of the issue with the buggy 4.3. Overall speed of the phones seems a bit slower too. Not as zippy as it was on 4.1.2. Hope this is the fixed version of 4.3

    At least you're sort so.

If you feel brave.....take a look at http://www.cyanogenmod.org/ - they have Android 4.3.1 (Cyanogenmod 10.2) and have only started work on Android 4.4 (KitKat) - as close to Stock Android on a non-Nexus device. Works like a charm.
